Great Britain 7s is proud to have partnered with leadership development company Performance3 (P3)

Great Britain 7s is proud to have partnered with leadership development company Performance3 (P3), who will oversee the day-to-day operational and performance management aligned to an agreed 7s performance strategy.

Joe Lydon, who has previously worked at the WRU and RFU, will be spearheading the leadership from Performance3. Lydon is familiar to international Sevens having previously coached the England set up between 2001 and 2004, and most recently been involved in the Irish Rugby Football Union as Head of international talent ID and development.

Under the guidance of the GB7s Executive Committee, P3 will support and manage the 7s programme ahead of the re-launched HSBC SVNS Series which kicks-off in Dubai on Saturday 2 December.

The introduction of P3 will support the programme’s Olympic ambitions with the Great Britain women’s team already qualified for the Paris games and the men’s side aiming for qualification in the world repechage in 2024.

As part of the affiliation, there will be an aim to establish a Great Britain 7s player development pathway as well as seek advanced opportunities for players within 7s. With the ever-growing opportunities provided by the revamped HSBC SVNS Series and the continued inclusion of Rugby 7s as an Olympic sport, part of P3’s role will be to look at further opportunities to grow the on and off field programmes.
